Welcome to the home of the Outreach Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Medical Library Association.

Our Mission: The mission of the Outreach Special Interest Group (SIG) is to generate discussion, facilitate dialogue, and develop networking and resource sharing among information professionals who reach beyond the boundaries of traditional on-site activities to deliver services to healthcare professionals and consumers in remote or underserved areas.

The Outreach SIG promotes the value and importance of outreach information services; encourages sharing of information regarding successful programs, techniques, and tools; and supports outreach-related events at MLA Annual Meetings and other meetings when appropriate.

News - The Outreach SIG co-sponsored three sessions at the 2009 MLA Annual Conference:

  • Training the Trainer - panel discussion
  • Integrating Evidence-based Library and Information Practice into the Librarian's Work Life - Contributed paper session
  • Fusion Outreach: Synthesizing Outreach Concepts in Human and Veterinary Medicine - Contributed paper session
